Development of a diagnostic app for a liver disease consultant

  • Strategy

UX mapping and the creation of a set of wireframes demonstrating key features and user flow

  • App Design

We produced a mock-up of the user interface (UI) designs showing how the finished screens will look

  • Publishing

After a comprehensive testing phase we produced all the app store assets and launched the app onto the Google Play and Apple app stores

Project Description

The University of Southampton is one of the top research facilities in the UK. Due to our expertise as a specialist healthcare marketing agency, we were asked to develop a diagnostic app that would help GPs assess a patient’s risk of developing liver disease using a ‘traffic light’ test.

The algorithm used within the app only works with assays done by University Hospital Southampton (UHS) NHS Trust. It must NOT be used with individual test results from other hospitals.

The data captured by the tool also needed to be recorded anonymously and stored to a central database so that it could be analysed for further research into liver disease.

Our Solution

By working closely with the gastroenterology department of the UHS we were able to establish the exactly how the tool would be useful to GPs within a clinical environment and document a precise project scope including the technical and functional requirements, the design criteria and any other considerations for the project.

“Genetic Digital provided an excellent service. They were very thorough and left no stone unturned. I felt very reassured by their technical approach and their knowledge of medical device compliance. The app has been a real success and has become a useful clinical tool for many of my peers.”
